Islandmagee Storage Project is a joint venture between InfraStrata plc and Mutual Energy Limited.
Judith Tweed, Community Liaison Consultant for the proposed Islandmagee Trust meets with local primary school principals to explain the background to the Trust and discuss how local education initiatives could benefit from potential funding.
The proposed 500mcm (18 bcf) facility will be the largest on the island of Ireland and make a significant contribution to the security of gas supplies. The facility is being designed to inject gas at 12mcm and withdraw gas at 22mcm per day. The cost of construction has been estimated at circa £250m, including cushion gas.
A Planning Application was submitted in March 2010 to the Northern Ireland Planning Service.
Islandmagee Storage brought on board local business owner, Judith Tweed in 2010 to assist them with their strategic community development plans. Following a number of years of consultation on their proposals, IMSL is keen to develop even stronger links with the local community in a bid to establish how funding from the proposed charitable trust may be used to the greatest effect in areas such as education, geology and the environment. Judith, is working closely with the Company’s PR Manager, Jacqui Thompson and local residents to gather feedback and ideas on possible funding initiatives.
In January 2012, the Company has entered into agreements with BP Gas Marketing Limited (“BPGM”) regarding the appraisal of the Islandmagee gas storage facility development project in County Antrim, and the grant of an option to BPGM to acquire a 50.495% equity interest in IMSL, currently owned by InfraStrata UK Limited (“InfraStrata”) and Moyle Energy Investments Limited ("Moyle"). Should the option be exercised InfraStrata’s equity interest in IMSL will become 32.178% and the remaining 17.327% will be owned by Moyle. Click here for more information.
